MEI to replace DEI

I have always said that I hire based on merit and performance. It only makes sense to hire and promote based on the qualities a person can bring to the endeavor. In recent years, it seems that DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) have replaced merit based hiring due to some misconception that we owe something to certain ethnic and racial groups. I am happy to see that a new acronym, MEI is slowly taking hold. I for one will never embrace DEI. It, to me, is about as racist as one can be. Instead, I will always embrace MEI (Merit, Excellence, and Intelligence) when it comes to hiring, promoting, or recruiting. We should all want the best talent we can find. Ethnicity or skin color has nothing to do with it.
