Schools and discipline.

Our schools are in crisis. Math and reading proficiency levels are dismal and unacceptable. Emphasis needs to be placed on core subjects. Expectations need to be higher from students, teachers, administrators, and parents. We can improve the state of our schools. I believe that the way discipline is handled and administered is not suitable for maintaining a safe and productive learning environment. I believe we must implement new and stronger discipline policies starting in Junior Highschool. The policies need to be fair, consistent and based on common sense. As a substitute teacher, I have witnessed first hand how a lack of discipline destroys the learning process. Easy fix. Common sense.
